How to save on your bills during colder months!

Here are some tips to help you save $$$ during the colder months. 


1. Unplug electronics not in use

2. Upgrade outdated thermostats

3. Make sure air vents are not covered so air can circulate

4. Check insulation

5. Seal drafty windows and doorways

6. Get an hvac inspection 

7. Open drapes during the day

8. Wear layers or covers in the house

9. Put your fridge on recommended temp

10. Clean out filters

HUD homes!!!!

HUD homes are homes that have been foreclosed on, and are owned by the bank or the lender.  Owner occupied gets first dibs at placing a bid and then it's open to investors.  The first round of bids may be exclusive to owner occupied for 7-14 days or even longer. If a bid is not obtained in that time, then investors may place a bid.  These are houses going for what's owed on the property and may have some leeway to negotiate.  Keep in mind these homes are as is and you're taking full ownership for the property in it's current state.  For owner occupied, HUD will pay up to 3% but it must be specified on the bid.  There's also a program called, Good Neighbor Next Door  "Law enforcement officers, teachers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians can contribute to community revitalization while becoming homeowners through HUD's Good Neighbor Next Door Sales Program.
